This is a campaign that has been going on as long as I can remember and I have always wore the poppy to show how proud I am of the service my family and others have committed to making our country what it is.
The legion uses the funds they collect to help them run some of the veterans programs they have. The popularity of this campaign is apparent in the number of people who wear a poppy throughout the beginning of November.
Although veterans need to receive donations from charity throughout the year it is from the last half of October and the first week in November that the Legion in Canada make a large part of their funding. Help with a veterans donation if you can.
