In most cases, these calls can be made and received absolutely free expect for perhaps an increase in monthly internet charges. But you do need a fast, reliable internet connection, microphone and speakers, and a sound card.

Making the switch from a traditional phones to VoIP phone systems is easy. All you need to do if you want to keep your current phones, is to buy the needed adapters. With this exception, you do not need any new hardware. If IP phones are your interest, keep in mind that they are expensive but a good investment if a sophisticated and professional VoIP phone system is your long-standing goal.
