Map Quest is an online provider of free driving directions and high quality maps, I’ve personally been using Mapquest directions for more than 10 years, I think I started using this service in 1999, but to be honest I can’t remember. This great web mapping service has lots of tools that have helped me save hundreds of miles, and also a lot of money.
Mapquest is one of the oldest internet mapping sites, the service was launched online in 1996, after 15 years this web mapping company is still considered one of the best, however, Google Maps is currently considered the number one online mapping site in the world, but I think that Mapquest directions are still more popular and maybe even more reliable in North America.
Map Quest can be accessd through any mobile phone, or any other mobile device that allows you to browse the web, you can access this service through your phone’s web browser, another option is to download the official Mapquest app for mobile, the app is free, but you can only download it if you have an Android or iPhone phone.
Most drivers that use the internet know that Mapquest directions are accurate, short, quick, and easy to understand, I have been using this service for a very long time and till this day it has never failed me, not even once, the service is so good that now even my dad and my mom are using it, and they don’t even know how to use email.
I think Map Quest was one of the first web mapping sites I ever visited, when I started using this service my life as a driver became better, so I instantly fell in love with online mapping softwares in general, since then I have been looking for the best free online mapping sites out there, I have been able to use Via michelin, Bing Maps, Expedia, and Yahoo Maps just to name a few. I have used many more services, but the ones I’ve mentioned here are probably the best, so if you want to find a reliable online map provider use any of the sites on this list.
If you are in Europe, don’t forget to use ViaMichelin, I think that Michelin is the most popular online mapping site in Europe, they offer free driving directions and interactive maps with high resolution. Another European online mapping software that’s very popular is Mappy, however, mappy only works on french speaking countries, while Via Michelin is available in most countries around the world. I live in the United States, so I use Map Quest and Google Maps a lot, but when I go to Europe, I like to use ViaMichelin.
